What is Work Experience like at Spraylat?

Most of his time was spent working with Jerry Bell our Chemist in the laboratory, but helped out in all the departments during his 2 weeks here. From Bottle Aerosol

Last week Spraylat International Ltd filled 85 of our aerosol cans with Dorotape’s “Flex-Off, Flex Film Remover”. Dorotape discovered that the plastic bottles used to dispense the liquid product were allowing it to evaporate out from the neck of the bottle; they decided to switch to aerosol cans to solve this problem.

Protectapeel Glasstrip Original Can Handle the Heat

This video highlights the superior standard of protection that Protectapeel Glasstrip Original offers our customers. A section of glass is coated with Glassstrip Original and put through some rigorous tests with an angle grinder and weld spatter. The peelable protective coating withstood the heat, and despite the best efforts of the technician, it remained in one piece, protected the glass from costly damage and peeled off easily. Spraylat story picked up by media

The story of the Spraylat’s involvement with the recent nuclear Japanese power plant was picked up today by BBC Radio, TV and in the Evening Telegraph as well as on Heart FM and other media outlets. Spraylat international has developed a special compound that is able to absorb radioactive material and even prevent it’s spread. Normally it is used in clean up operations of power plants, but in the case of Fukushima it is also planned to be used in a far wider context around the site. This will help prevent the spread of the radioactive material.

Stricken Fukushima power plant looks to British company for help

The Fukushima nuclear power station, damaged in the Japanese earthquake, has been in talks with a British company to help reduce the spread of radioactive contamination. Spraylat International, based in Corby in Northamptonshire, had already begun talks with the company that manages the nuclear power plant prior to the earthquake looking at ways of tackling potential radioactive contamination. However, these talks took on a new level of urgency following the disaster.

Spraylat has been supplying the nuclear sector, organisations such as British Nuclear Fuels with peelable protective coatings for over a decade. “The coating is sprayed over contaminated surfaces and once cured it mechanically locks the contaminants into the polymer mix,” explains Spraylat’s Managing Director Andrew Keir. “In effect, the coating acts as a tie-down preventing the spread of contamination.” When cured, the material can be peeled and disposed of safely.

Spraylat’s specially formulated coatings had been on trial in Japan for a number of months prior to the earthquake but now things are moving very quickly. Additional samples, which include a weather resistant coating, have now been shipped to Japan as the authorities look at ways of protecting not only the Fukushima plant, but the surrounding area.

“The situation in Fukushima remains a very serious one and we hope that we can help the site’s owners to limit the spread of radioactive contamination in the near future,” said Andrew.
